Quite recently, the date for the fifth edition of the annual International Maldives Travel Market (IMTM) 2022 has been changed by IMTM Pvt. Ltd. The company has been working on their Travel and Trade Fair for a long time and has discovered that making this decision will allow it to maximize the opportunity for the Maldives' tourism industry. The much-anticipated Fair has been rescheduled for September 7th and 8th of this year.
This Fair provides participants with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to network with over 800 delegates and professionals from around the world, interact actively not only with existing clients but also meet new companies, boost businesses, and close deals with new customers in the Maldives.
The much-anticipated B2B Travel and Trade Fair has been rescheduled to make international travel agents and tour operators more accessible. After much thought, IMTM had decided to move the fair to September in order to maximize the event's potential.
Leading tour operators, travel agencies, and destination management companies from around the world are invited to attend the IMTM Fair's cost-effective platform. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them to build meaningful relationships with key members of the Maldives tourism industry, such as hoteliers, travel agents, and tour operators. This event promotes both inbound and outbound tourism opportunities in the Maldives, as well as actively marketing the Maldives as a world-class MICE destination.
IMTM aspires to outperform its pre-pandemic performance and provide a unique and enriching experience for all. After 2019, the IMTM's Sustainable Tourism Forum (STF) will return for its second edition in 2022. The STF will be held on September 6th, 2022, one day before the Travel and Trade Fair.
It allows industry experts to share their knowledge and experiences on sustainable tourism practices geared toward innovation, climate change adaptation, and the development of a resilient tourism industry in the Maldives. This year, the theme of IMTM 2022 is "Adapt and Rethink Tourism for Resilience," with the goal of reviving the tourism industry as countries around the world enter the endemic phase and COVID-19 restrictions are eased.
“We are excited to finally resume our annual travel and trade fair physically this year. Our priority is not simply to hold the event but make sure we reach as many international markets, travel agents and tour operators as possible so they may explore opportunities in the Maldives. We have decided to hold the fair at a later date to facilitate their travel to our destination.” Expressing her thoughts is the Managing Director of IMTM, Ms. Shiuna Khalid.
IMTM had also announced that the Ministry of Tourism, MMPRC, Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), and National Boating Association of the Maldives (NBAM) have already endorsed and supported IMTM 2022. Tourism industry professionals and properties must work together to revitalize the industry, and IMTM encourages them to participate in this year's fair.
