On the first episode of The Niyama Friends Series on 5th June, the luxury resort had presented the story of Chef Nelly Robinson, who had visited Niyama Islands in May, 2019 where had a great experience with the ‘friendly and welcoming staff’, ‘excellent service, food, environment’ and the island was ‘beyond beautiful than seen on pictures.’
Nelly Robinson, Head Chef and owner at Nel Restaurant in Sydney, began his culinary adventures at the tender age of 14 at Michelin- starred restaurant Northcote Manor (UK). After receiving training from chef patron Nigel Haworth and his team, including Warrick Dodds and Mark Burchill, Nelly worked around the world in more Michelin star restaurants in the UK and abroad.
The Nel Restaurant was opened up 6 years ago when Nelly was just 29 years old. Spearheading the kitchen, Chef Nelly and his team are widely celebrated for their “unique dining experience”. The restaurant had reopened after being closed down for three months last weekend and are now running their trip down memory lane menu.
Apart from being invited to cook as a special guest at many Australian and international events, Nelly has also received several prestigious titles. He was a finalist in the Chef of the Year Gault & Millau 2017 Award and was nominated as a finalist in the 2016 Awards, receiving an impressive 16.5/20 from the judges in 2017. Nelly was also voted #228 in the top 300 chefs of the world by World Chef Awards held in Milan.
It was also revealed that the unique luxury resort Niyama Private Islands Maldives are ready to be back, and with a small team present at the resort keeping everything together, the resort have lined up a couple of new things for its guests. While the Chefs have been working on vegetarian menus, with new ingredients and introducing new flavors, the resort also has a wellness program coming soon.
