The Maldives’ Online National Library

The Maldives National Library, which had been closed as a precautionary measure, will be continuing its operations online. The library’s members can access its e-resources and database through the official website.

The history of the National Library dates back to the 20th century, two decades before Maldives gained independence from British colonial rule. It was named as the National Library in 1982 by former President Maumoon 'Abdul Qayyoom. This was when the Library began functioning as both a national library and public library for lending items.
