The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has decided to launch a new marketing campaign, ‘Together in Travel’. Set to go live on 20th April at 11.00hrs BST, the campaign will encourage travelers from around the world to share a video using the hashtag ‘Together in Travel’ simultaneously. The activity would unite everyone across the globe in solidarity at the same moment.
Gloria Guevara, President, and CEO, WTTC said in a press statement that Travel and Tourism is a critical sector to the global economy. Even in the Maldives, tourism industry is a major contributor to the GDP and the main employment source. She informed that the industry accounts for one in four of all new jobs worldwide and contributes around 10.3% to GDP.
However, as countries battle COVID19 pandemic, the tourism sector continues to decline. Through this campaign, WTTC aims to give out the message that everyone can still stay inspired with future travel ideas and bookings and can also be part of a virtual space for sharing, connecting, and collectively inspiring.
