Well-known as a dream Honeymoon destination, Maldives will commence focus on promoting sport and adventure tourism. There will also be focus on the rich local culture of inhabited islands. This will be achieved by developing a strategy centered on cultural tourism to help showcase Maldivian life to visitors through local cuisine, cultural performances, traditional handicrafts and heritage sites.
Business tourism will be encouraged through investment on infrastructure for events and conferences. The marketing strategy will be implemented through activities such as trade roadshows, media familiarization trips, plus joint marketing campaigns with airlines and trade partners.
It is estimated that tourism arrivals increase to 2.5 million tourists annually by the end of 2023.
