Last Tuesday, the World’s Largest Seaplane Operator, Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) played host to 22 students and 3 teachers from Thaa Atoll School. The visiting delegation was undertaking a familiarization trip to acquire practical knowledge about TMA’s seaplane services. As part of the trip, the visiting team also toured and inspected the facilities at the newly opened Noovilu Seaplane Terminal.
A series of information sessions were conducted during the trip, taken by prominent members from various different departments of TMA. The facilitators shared valuable information about their jobs in TMA, providing useful insight into their respective departments, responsibilities, and how everything integrates to contribute to the seamless operations of TMA.
Following the sessions, a dedicated Question & Answer time was given to students, allowing them to clarify any queries or curiosities they had about the career paths, qualifications and etc. Members from the Business Development, Human Resources, Safety & Security, Quality & Compliance, Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) and Flight Operations departments partook in the information sessions and conveyed beneficial information.
Afterward, the students were given a guided tour of TMA’s facilities including the guest lounges, boarding gates, seaplane docks, and even the rare opportunity to first-hand witness the TMA’s Operations Control Centre in action! Through this trip, the students gained insightful knowledge about the daily workflow and operations of the biggest seaplane operations in the world.
In the past few years, TMA has hosted multiple familiarization trips for school students of different ages. With that, students were able to learn from working professionals about their job roles and what it entails as well as get a realistic picture of everyday activities and operations. Through this, TMA hopes to instill in young adults a passion for the field, allowing more youth to pursue fields in aviation.
A highly-sought after workplace, TMA has been setting the bar for skilled employment in the aviation and service sector of the Maldives. The company aspires to continue being a responsible partner in the holistic development of the nation for many more years to come.
