Vakkaru Maldives Elevates Guest Experience With Two New Unique Offerings

Sunday 20th of November 2022

The timeless sanctuary nestled in the heart of Baa is returning strong for the festive season with two all-new offerings. Vakkaru Maldives has announced that it is set to elevate guest experiences further with the opening of Jungle Cinema and Anguru Teppanyaki restaurant.

Jungle Cinema

True to its name the Jungle Cinema is located in a secluded area of the resort, surrounded by lush green foliage. The private screening can accommodate up to 10 people making it an ideal spot to catch movies with family and friends and even for couples looking for a fresh date night.

Guests can select a movie of their preference from a wide array of genres and enjoy accompanying soft drinks and popcorn throughout the screening. With two movies screened every evening; one at 7:30 pm and the other one at 9:30 pm, guests can also choose to have their dinner in the cinema which comes with a set menu dinner.

Anguru Teppanyaki Restaurant

On the other hand, Anguru Teppanyaki restaurant is the sixth addition to the resort that perfectly aligns with Vakkaru’s dine-around journey. The name ‘Anguru’ is inspired by coconut shell charcoal which is referred to as ‘Anguru’ in the local language. Early Maldivians used ‘Anguru’ for barbecues and by giving the restaurant the name, Vakkaru pays homage to the island’s heritage as a coconut plantation, boasting around 2300 palms even today.

Modelled as a gazebo with a thatched roof, the restaurant offers unobstructed views of the main pool and features a live kitchen. Guests can first-hand witness their meals being prepared before a sizzling dish is placed on the counter. With a 10-diner capacity at a time, the restaurant offers an a la carte menu for lunch and set menus for dinner.

The a la carte menu comprises sumptuous sushi, maki rolls, nigari and sashimi for starters. For mains, a wide selection of choices includes Australian Wagyu, Angus beef, Maldivian Grade A tuna, Scottish Salmon and Maldivian lobster. All mains are complemented by miso soup, teppanyaki grilled vegetables, Japanese pickles and signature Japanese fried rice. As for desserts, the diner offers flambé pineapple and ice cream filled with batter-friend profiteroles along with some other desserts on display.

When it comes to set menus, the Sunset Flair and Ocean Delight feature delicious delectables such as sushi, sashimi, soups, mains and desserts. The lavish Surf & Turf set constitutes seafood soup, assorted sushi, lobster popcorn and pineapple and Malibu sorbet for starters. The mains continue with fresh Maldivian lobster, Wagyu beef MB, pan-seared foie gras, baby vegetables and vegetable fried rice. The dinner is wrapped up by orange macerated flambé crepes, ending the night on a sweet note.

Speaking about the new experiences, General Manager of Vakkaru Maldives, Ian McCormack said “All our guests are evolved, luxury travelers and at Vakkaru we are always looking for ways to improve and elevate the experiences we offer to match and exceed expectations. As a result, both Jungle Cinema and the Anguru Teppanyaki restaurant have been refined with singular attention to detail to deliver unique, exceptional moment to our guests”.
