The Travel Agent Affiliate Program by Expedia is a universal platform for travel agents from around the world to access Expedia’s global inventory and earn commissions on hotels, dynamic packages and activities. Recently, Visit Maldives partnered with Expedia to conduct a joint webinar targeting the United States Market via TAAP.
The 45-minute B2B webinar was an opportunity to share the latest destination updates and information on products and experiences available in the Maldives for holidaymakers. These included the unique and authentic experiences in the destination, along with some exciting initiatives recently rolled out, such as the Maldives Border Miles Program that inspires visiting the Maldives again and again. 390 agents registered for the event, who were educated and encouraged to promote the correct strategy and messaging for their clients.
The ultimate objective of the webinar was to ensure participants that Maldives remains a safe haven for travelers, given its naturally social distanced islands and the stringent and internationally recognized measures adapted by the industry stakeholders. This is forecasted to maintain the momentum of arrivals from the US market and achieve pre-pandemic arrival figures. As of May 12, the US market holds 6th position in the top source market list of the Maldives.
As always, the webinar concluded with a Q&A session. Most inquiries from the participating agents were about the safety measures in the Maldives. Henceforth, information was shared regarding the ‘I’m Vaccinated’ campaign, PCR testing at resorts, tourist entry requirements, and so on.
