
From February 18th to 23rd, 2025, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) collaborated with Singapore Airlines to host a unique familiarisation trip for Chinese media representatives and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs). The event aimed to immerse the participants in the Maldives’ luxurious hospitality and stunning attractions.
Held at two premium resorts, Pullman Maldives Maamutaa and The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives, this trip marked the first of its kind targeting the Chinese market in 2025. It offered participants a chance to experience the Maldives’ exquisite offerings firsthand, from world-class resorts to pristine natural beauty. The initiative is part of Visit Maldives’ ongoing efforts to position the destination as a leading luxury travel hotspot for Chinese travellers.
The Maldives has already welcomed 56,150 arrivals from China as of February 23rd, 2025, and continues to build on this momentum. To celebrate the Chinese New Year, Visit Maldives rolled out a series of targeted campaigns, including a social media push, digital campaigns in partnership with Qunar, and a dedicated webinar. These efforts are designed to raise awareness and spark more interest among Chinese visitors.
Moving forward, Visit Maldives remains focused on deepening its relationship with the Chinese market through media partnerships, KOL collaborations, and promotional activities with leading travel partners. Roadshows in China and dynamic digital campaigns will further enhance the Maldives' allure, ensuring it stays at the forefront of luxury travel destinations for Chinese tourists.
