The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) is hosting “Visit Maldives Week”, a dynamic roadshow aimed at showcasing the Maldives as a premier travel destination for Russian tourists. Running from February 3rd to 7th, the week-long initiative spans three key Russian cities: St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Tyumen.
This is the first of many roadshows planned throughout the year to target both major and emerging tourist markets. The event offers an opportunity for 22 representatives from 14 Maldivian tourism companies to connect with local travel trade professionals and media, strengthening existing partnerships and forging new ones.
At each stop, attendees can engage with interactive photo zones highlighting the stunning beauty of the Maldives’ islands and resorts. The event also includes media meet-ups, B2B meetings, and destination workshops, creating a platform for in-depth discussions on the Maldives' offerings. Notably, visitors in St. Petersburg can win a two-night stay at Canareef Resort Maldives, courtesy of the resort itself.
To engage participants further, the event will feature a “Maldives Passport,” an interactive quiz offering the chance to win exciting prizes. These initiatives aim to spark interest and increase awareness of the Maldives' unique appeal.
The Maldives has become one of the top destinations for Russian travelers, with Russia being the second-largest source market for the country in 2024. Visit Maldives hopes to continue strengthening its position by engaging directly with Russian travelers through this series of events. Future activities targeting the Russian market include webinars, campaigns with tour operators and airlines, and media familiarisation trips.
Visit Maldives is confident that this roadshow series will significantly enhance the Maldives' presence in Russia and foster further growth in tourism from this key market.
