The esteemed W Maldives of W Hotels Worldwide has announced that their W property in the paradise will have a new Executive Chef on board, Chef Mohammed Issa Ali. Hailing from Jordan, Chef MO is a virtuoso in culinary works and has played an integral part in perfecting the gastronomical palates across Middle East.
Starting out at a banquet kitchen at the age of 16, Chef MO always had big aspirations to become a professional chef. With an inspiration that stemmed from listening to his two uncles discussing recipes and kitchen tricks, Chef MO braved himself into the field as well.
Throughout his career, Chef MO has worked with world-class luxury hotels in the United Arab Emirates and Jordan. This includes well-recognized hoteliers such as Shangri-La, Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, and The Atlantis and now W Maldives.
In 2016, he initially joined Dukes as Executive Sous Chef, displaying exceptional leadership skills in his work. This trait made him swiftly rise through the ranks and he was appointed as Executive Chef of the establishment at the young age of 33. In his previous position as Executive Chef at Dukes The Palm in Dubai, Chef Mo oversaw an immensely busy kitchen comprising of 45 chefs, restaurant and bar as well as the in-room dining requirements of 270 rooms and 160 hotel apartments
Speaking about the appointment Chef MO said “When I originally moved to the UAE from Jordan, I took a big leap of faith. It wasn’t without challenges, but its where I’ve grown the most professionally and started a family. With me having this strong crave for new flavours and appetite for more, taking over the kitchens of Maldives has become my next goal, allowing me to have some new ingredients to master with. It exhilarates me even more knowing it will be W Maldives- a luxury island playground packed with special happenings and activations”.
General Manager of W Maldives, Idu Ribeiro commented “I have no doubt Chef MO has the recipe for success to enhance our resort’s culinary experience. Between his extensive knowledge, leadership skills and ability to nurture talent, there is no better person to lead our kitchen and serve our tables with elevated culinary offerings”.
