Thursday 13th of October 2022

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has participated in the TTG Travel Experience 2022 to showcase the destination to the Italian Market. This year’s edition of TTG is taking place at Rimini in Italy from the 12th-14th of October 2022.

MMPRC is partaking in this event along with 22 industry partners and hopes to hold destination presence in the Italian market through participation. Apart from this, the fair also provides a great opportunity for tourism industry stakeholders to build networking and promote their main tourism products.

The TTG Travel Experience is ranked among the leading B2B fairs in the travel market, designated for selling tourism products. Organized by the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), the fair provides the largest platform to network, connect and even discuss new ideas and viewpoints with major Italian agencies, tour operators, exhibitors and other tourism experts.

MMPRC’s strategic aim for this event is to advertise the destination as a safe haven, shedding light into the unique geographical distribution of the islands, which guarantee visitors with the ultimate privacy and security. Moreover, the corporation also strives to market the destination’s key tourism products namely resorts, guesthouses, liveaboards and hotels while highlighting the exclusive attractions and offerings provided in the Maldives. Furthermore, MMPRC and industry partners will share the latest updates in travel guidelines and inform visitors on the destination itself.

The Italian market has long since been a prominent and traditional market for the Maldives, with the first batch of tourists arriving from the country over 5 decades ago. Fast-forwarding to 2019, Italy was ranked the third top source market for the island nation, with the market continuously marking its spot in the charts.

MMPRC’s marketing activities for the Italian market is also directed at generational affinity Italians attribute to the Maldives, with many reminiscing on the memories of parents and grandparents who have spent their past holidays in the Maldives. With travel restrictions easing in Italy, the arrival numbers from Italy has once again rose with Maldives recording 70,943 tourists from Italy as of 10th October 2022, placing the market in the 5th position.

MMPRC has carried out multiple high-profile activities for the market this year including joint campaigns with Lonely Planet, Alpitour, Vacanze and Mediamond and participation in BIT Milan 2022. Many other campaigns are ongoing at the moment as well.
