W Maldives Joins Maalhos School For The School’s Anniversary Celebrations

Located in the midst of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Baa Atoll. Maalhos is a small and lovely local island that is only about a kilometre long and has a population of approximately 600 people. Recently, the island’s school, Maalhos School had hosted celebrations for their 31st anniversary.

Not far from the island, just 20 minutes via speedboat is the world renowned, W Maldives Retreat & Spa! The resort’s management is well-known in the local island for their undying support and love they cherish for the locals upon many occasions.

To join the celebrations, General Manager at W Maldives, Idu Ribeiro and other crew members traveled to the island, and joined the special ceremony hosted by the school. The school has lately embarked on two major projects: the creation of an open-air library and the execution of a digitization program that includes the installation of smart TVs in classrooms to enhance the learning experience for the students.

W Maldives in support for the course, had donated a 55-inch TV for the school’s use. Highlighting on the importance of local community support, Idu Ribeiro expressed his enthusiasm towards the two projects being implemented in the school.

Idu also stressed on the difficulties faced due to COVID19 restrictions that had limited the number of visits from the resort to the island. Furthermore, he looks forward for 2022 where the resort crew has planned to work even more closely with their neighboring islands, supporting them in many more initiatives.
