W Maldives Launches Year-Long Vegan Pop-Up With Celebrity Chef Priyanka Naik

To commemorate this year’s World Vegan Day which is celebrated on 1st November, W Maldives collaborated with Celebrity Chef, Priyanka Naik to introduce a ‘Go W-egan’ pop-up menu at the resort. The famed vegan chef has curated an exclusive set of delicacies for the resort, which will be available till October 2023.

Chef Priyanka was recently at W Maldives for a unique Marriot Bonvoy Moments experience and visited the local island of Thoddoo, an agricultural land with many farms. There she hand-picked fresh ingredients and produced her designated menu by using these sustainably sourced fruits and vegetables. She also closely worked with the Maldivian Chefs at W Maldives, including Chef Baka and Chef Rishma who guided her to add local touches to all the courses featured on the menu.

During the 4-day activation, Chef Priyanka even hosted a sustainable cooking class for guests, sharing with them useful tips to create delectables with leftovers. The main event of her collaboration was when the year-long vegan pop-up was unveiled with a special showcase dinner held to mark the occasion.

Some of the sumptuous dishes displayed on her menu include Spiced-up Watermelon Mint Salad in Tahini Lemon Crema, Double Textured Spicy Blistered Eggplant in Peanut Sauce and Chili Sesame Dressed Charred Sweet Potato with Fresh Coriander & Toasted Almonds among other drool-worthy presentations. Chef Priyanka’s two starters, two main-course and one dessert add more value to the already diverse collection of varied vegetarian and vegan menus offered at W Maldives for guests.

A self-taught Indian American vegan chef, Priyanka Naik was raised in New York. She is a food network champion and the author of the esteemed book ‘The Modern Tiffin’. Being a globetrotter with as many as 40 countries to add to her travel memoirs, Chef Priyanka takes inspiration from her travels to curate original recipes with a focus on sustainability. She is a blogger and has made several guest appearances in multiple TV shows and events during her career.
