Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort and Spa has joined hands with Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to conduct a community clean-up of Hulhumalé on a massive scale on 8 September 2025. Beginning at 6.45 a.m., over 20 resort-affiliated associates united with HDC to pick up litter in two of the busiest public spots on the island, the Hulhumalé Ferry Terminal Lakudi Jetty and Central Park and gathered 1.5 tons of litter.
The clean drive is the current investment of Sheraton Maldives in environmental responsibility. The resort is Green Globe Certified (2024-2025), which demonstrates its commitment to sustainability as the central part of its operation, and the interest of HDC supports its goal to achieve sustainable urban development in Hulhumalé.
At Sheraton maldives, we feel that our best bet at sustainability is through cooperation, said Greg Allan, the general manager of Sheraton maldives full moon resort and spa. This clean drive not only helps in our green efforts as a Green Globe resort but also encourages our associates and the larger community to collaborate in our effort to make our future a cleaner and greener place.
This effort reinforces the long-term environmental initiative of the resort that consists of waste reduction programs, energy-efficient initiatives, coral conservation initiatives, and the introduction of renewable initiatives. Through its collaborations with local organisations and empowering its workforce, Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa can maintain its position as a sustainability leader in the Maldives.
The eco-friendly nature of the resort can also be seen, where guests can enjoy the restoration of the coral reefs, bottling of water, farm-to-table meals, and more, which are aimed at helping the resort leave the Maldives the way it was before for generations to come.
