Ali Shakir Appointed Group General Manager at MIC

Maldives Inflight Catering Pvt Ltd (MIC) has appointed Ali Shakir as the new Group General Manager, marking an exciting new chapter for the company. With a rich background in the hospitality industry spanning over 27 years, Shakir will now oversee the Maldives Inflight Kitchen, Hulhule Island Hotel, and the exclusive Madifushi Private Island Maldives.
Shakir most recently served as the General Manager at OBLU NATURE Helengeli by SENTIDO, where he played a crucial role in the resort’s redevelopment and successful reopening. His career with Atmosphere Core began in 2019, where he served as Resort Manager at VARU By Atmosphere, contributing significantly to the pre-opening of several properties, including OBLU XPERIENCE Ailafushi and OZEN RESERVE BOLIFUSHI. His extensive experience also includes key roles at well-known resorts such as Angsana Velavaru and Paradise Island Resort and Spa.
Having spent over 15 years at Hulhule Island Hotel, Shakir is no stranger to MIC, where he advanced to the position of Executive Assistant Manager before leaving in 2019. His familiarity with the brand and the industry will be invaluable as he steps into this leadership role.

Shakir holds a General Managers Program certificate from Cornell University in the USA and a General Hotel Service certification from the Institute of Hotel and Catering Service in the Maldives. MIC is a joint venture between Maldives Airports Company Limited and SATS Ltd, known for its inflight catering services to airlines and private jets, alongside its management of the only airport hotel at Velana International Airport and the luxurious Madifushi Private Island Maldives.
