Barceló Hotels and Resorts has appointed Usman Ibrahim as the new Cluster Director of Housekeeping. Ibrahim’s promotion highlights his extensive experience and significant contributions to the hospitality industry.
Starting his career in 2004 as a speedboat crew member, Ibrahim quickly transitioned into a Villa Attendant role at Raniya Private Island by 2006. His career in housekeeping flourished with roles at prestigious resorts including Velaa Private Island, Nova Maldives, Chaaya Lagoon Hakuraahuraa, AAA Hotels and Resorts, and Baglioni Maldives.
Ibrahim has played a vital role in the pre-opening phases of five resorts: Vilamendhoo, Baglioni, Kandima, Niyaama Private Island, and Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives. His expertise in establishing and managing top-tier housekeeping operations has been exemplary.
As an executive committee member of the Maldives Housekeeping Association (MHA), Ibrahim is dedicated to nurturing young talent. He emphasizes the importance of investing in emerging professionals through training programs, workshops, and competitions organized by MHA. The association also provides internship and mentorship opportunities, helping students gain hands-on experience and guidance.
“Housekeeping is more than just a job; it’s about celebrating events, fostering team spirit, and creating a positive work environment,” Ibrahim says. “Effective leadership involves understanding the right time and place to guide your team with clear directions. Continuous training and addressing challenges are essential for maintaining high standards.”
In his new role, Ibrahim is eager to elevate service standards, inspire his team, and contribute to the ongoing success of Barceló Hotels and Resorts.
