In 2017, Bank of Maldives launched a destination marketing campaign under the name, “Experience Maldives” to promote the tourism industry of Maldives. The associate partner of this campaign is American Express, which is used by the majority of the tourists that visit Maldives. As part of this campaign, AMEX customers will be provided with special offers to book their holiday in Maldives.
Last Thursday, Planning Minister Mohamed Aslam inaugurated the second edition of the Experience Maldives campaign at Kurumba Maldives. At least 26 resorts in the Maldives have participated in the year-long campaign, authorized by Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI).
After reaching 1.5 million tourist arrivals this year, the government targets for 2 million in 2020 and 2.5 million tourist arrivals per year by the end of its first five-year term in 2023.
