A Sustainability Specialist by profession, Federico Catalioto has been appointed as the new Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Dusit Thani Maldives. Fitting to his work experiences from the past, this new role will allow Catalioto to contribute to the resort’s mission to have a positive impact on its community and the environment, he said in his comment on the appointment.
This Italian national has extensive experience under his belt, some from work at leading hotels and resorts focusing on holistic sustainability. Catalioto earned double bachelor’s degrees in Hospitality Management from world-renowned hospitality institutes Glion and Les Roches in Switzerland prior to kicking off his career in the Sales and Marketing department of Marriott International.
Catalioto has always enjoyed utilizing his passion and expertise to bring positive difference in the lives of others. In this regard, he has made great difference in Maringi Eco Resort, a vocational school on the Indonesian island of Sumba. He specialized in the efforts of reducing the resort’s carbon footprint, monitoring sourcing and consumption, and contributing to sustainability.
Enthusiastic about his new life in the Maldives, Catalioto expressed, ‘I am honoured to be able to continue the resort’s existing projects, and I look forward to developing many new projects and ideas too.’
Catalioto will be taking over the ongoing CSR initiatives and curating it to leading meaningful and educational activities for both staff and guests on the island. He will further leverage his connections with SUMAS to invite students to design special projects for the island and activities focused on raising sustainability awareness.
Dusit Thani will be soon seeing changes in their sustainable initiatives with the input from Catalioto.
