The award-winning airline, Etihad Airways has green signalled another chapter in its expansion plans, this time to the Indian subcontinent. The airline has announced that it will be reinstating flights to Kolkata, India starting in the March of 2023.
From 26th March 2023, passengers flying aboard Etihad can enjoy the daily service on the Abu Dhabi—Kolkata route, paving way for seven weekly frequencies to Netaji Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU). The flights will be operated on commercial class aircraft of A320, allowing guests to make use of the eight spacious seats in Business Class and the 150 exclusive seats in Economy Class.
Speaking on the expansion, Senior Vice President Global Sales & Cargo of Etihad Airways, Martin Drew remarked “With Etihad Airways continuing to enhance our network, resuming daily flights to this key gateway opens even more connectivity to the Indian Subcontinent for our guests. Our return to Kolkata will also come at the same time as we go double daily to New York, providing better access between India and the United States via Abu Dhabi where our guests can take advantage of our US Preclearance facility for a seamless arrival into the States”.
Speaking further he said: “This announcement will herald the start of an exciting summer season. We know this will mean a lot to our guests, whether they are travelling for business, for leisure or visiting family and friends”.
The recommencement of flights to Kolkata would now step-up Etihad’s connectivity across the Indian Subcontinent by incrementing the total number of destinations to 14. This includes popular destinations in the Maldives, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
Onboard the Environmental Airline of the Year, Etihad passengers can offset their carbon footprint with the airline’s green loyalty programme. Guests will also be entitled to rack up on Tier Miles and additional benefits in reward for carrying less baggage on board and making conscious choices using the Airways’ Guest Miles programme.
