Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Maldives has introduced a new service. Patients can now receive aquatic physiotherapy or hydrotherapy services from the hospital’s Dharumavantha complex.
Hydrotherapy or Aquatic Physiotherapy is physiotherapy practiced in warm water which can help relieve aches and pains, mobilize stiff joints and strengthen weak muscles. By conducting physical therapy in the water, the body becomes more buoyant and decreases the amount of stress on your joints. Aquatic therapy is typically for patients that are recovering from surgery, not allowed full weight bearing but need to work on walking, and are experiencing acute low back pain and cannot tolerate standing and walking.
