On Thursday, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) announced that they have successfully concluded the third basic Air Traffic Controllers training course. The eight-week long training course was held from 21st August to 13th October 2022 with 9 participants. All the partakers were new members joining the Air Traffic Centre (ATC).
The pre-requisite for ATC rating training, this course equips new recruits with the theoretical knowledge necessary to conduct Air Traffic services. Moreover, the course lies within the parameters set International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and was facilitated by Maldivian trainers at the ATC.
The nine trained staff of the course will now be deployed to different Air Traffic areas of Velana International Airport and other regional airports. This includes serving at the Maldives Air Traffic Control Centre and Air Traffic Tower. MACL remains as the parent company that manages all air traffic control towers in all regional airports as well.
MACL is committed to routinely conduct training and capacity-building programs for staff to widen their knowledge and training as air traffic control officers.
