Until her appointment, Ms. Aminath worked as the Permanent Secretary at the Foreign Ministry and served as a director and other positions at the Foreign Ministry. She has also been working in the diplomatic field for 17 years. She attained Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Bangalore University, India and a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Monash University, Australia.
This is not the first time a female has been appointed such a position. In fact, 8 out of 17 Maldivian diplomatic missions established in foreign countries are headed by women.
