Villa Resorts are owned by Villa Group, which is a parent company of Villa Group that has donated USD 100,000 to disaster relief in Sri Lanka after Cyclone Dheethuva struck the island. The cyclone caused extreme floods and landslides in various parts of the country and the people lost their homes, families were displaced and this also caused a lot of damage to the homes and other important infrastructures.
It was donated on 2 December, 2025 and was presented at Malé by Ibrahim Siyad Qasim, Managing Director of Villa Group. He made the contribution to the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Maldives, H.E. M. Rizvi Hassen. Hon. Qasim Ibrahim, Chairman of Villa Group was thanked by the High Commission of Sri Lanka who realized that the assistance was a significant contribution to continued national and local recovery measures.
The cyclone Dheethuva resulted in prolonged heavy rainfall and this has caused massive flooding that has impacted thousands of families. There are still many communities that are in urgent need of help and funds to recover in the future. The role of Villa Group will aid the overall humanitarian efforts and support the most vulnerable group in the disaster.
This donation helps Villa Group to deepen its interest in helping regional neighbours during crisis, as well as, providing meaningful assistance where it is most useful.
