Mamak, Malay-Indian cuisine restaurant in Hulhumale is delivering food to those in need due to the Covid19. On 19th April, the restaurant tweeted regarding this initiative, requesting information on any family who are not able to get food living in Hulhumale, as they are only able to deliver in the island currently.
‘This is something we have wanted to do for a long time now. We started this business in the hope of doing lot more then earn money. We had been waiting until we reach healthy profitability. Although we never really reached our targets, with the situation we all are in, this is a good time as any and it would be a real shame for us if we have to close down the business without ever having done something truly beneficial.’
Mamak informs that they have been debating on putting it up publicly but they can only do this with the public’s help by crowd sourcing the information. Recently, the restaurant stated that all delivery permit holders need to be given priority for masks and sanitizers after health sector. ‘These are the people who'd be moving around the most during this time. Please help inform pharmacies on this. Delivery guys without PPE would endanger everyone.’
