Manta Air, the premium domestic airline confirms the continuation of operations for the local community, effective from 1st April 2020 to both Dhaalu Atoll and Baa Atoll. ‘With continued requests from the local community for the Manta service, we have decided to continue daily flights using our Seaplanes to maintain regular domestic transfer connectivity in these atolls and also for emergency flights.’
Due to the harsh drop in demand for travel resulting from the coronavirus pandemic and its financial impact, the airline have made the ‘difficult yet pragmatic business decision’ to suspend fixed schedule ATR services to Dhaalu Airport and Dharavandhoo Airport until the situation in the country improves.
While advising customers to travel only when necessary and avoid any unwanted travel, Manta Air informs that customers who wish to travel may book tickets via the website www.mantaair.mv/book or through the reservations team. In addition, Manta Air will continue to support the on-demand charter flight requirements for both ATR and twin-otters should there be a specific requirement from airline partners at any time during this period.
On 16th March, the airline made an announcement regarding the immediate temporary route suspension of GKK, scaling down of the operations and schedule changes in light of the rapidly growing global COVID 19 pandemic and its effects on the domestic aviation industry.
