Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) partook in the Riyadh Travel Fair (RTF) to promote the Maldives in the Saudi Arabian market. Held in Riyadh, from 22-24 May 2023, MMPRC was joined by 26 other industry partners representing a total of 15 companies. This event particularly targeted affluent travellers in the Middle East for the luxury segment.
RTF 2023 is deemed a prominent annual event which brings together leading travel and tourism companies and exhibitors of the Arab and international world. Attended by some of the most significant tourism companies in the world, the market is the ideal place to display new products, services and investment opportunities for visitors. This year’s fair participants include corporate travel decision-makers, investors, tour operators, travel agents representing VIP clients and other industry professionals.
The Maldives stand at the fair offered visitors a glimpse of the mesmerizing beauty of the Maldives. The stand was carefully curated to showcase the various segments available in the tourism industry including luxury travel, family holidays, adventure holidays, halal travel and cultural experiences. The lively and vibrant stand also hosted unique activities throughout the fair such as a special raffle giveaway, Dhivehi Calligraphy Corner and gastronomical events that enabled visitors to sample Maldivian delights such as kulhi kaajaa, addu bondi and theluli bambukeyo.
Through this event, MMPRC aimed to market the Maldives as the World’s Leading Destination and promote the diverse segments, experiences and unique products of the Sunny Side of Life. Moreover, MMPRC and industry partners shared the latest travel guidelines and information about the destination with potential travellers and established new business ties with the Middle Eastern travel trade.
In addition to this, the fair will also help strengthen brand presence in the KSA market, achieve new growth in arrivals and promote halal tourism. Participation in the fair featured under MMPRC’s marketing strategies for the Middle Eastern market which focuses on conducting campaigns that increase the reach, bookings and arrivals from the region. As of 30th April 2023, Maldives welcomes 23,454 tourists from the Middle East with Saudi Arabia ranked as the top #19th market for the Maldives.
Several activities are planned for the Middle East market for this year to maintain destination visibility and increase arrivals. Some of the events ahead include joint-marketing campaigns, informative webinars, participation in major fairs and exhibitions as well as hosting roadshows and familiarisation trips.
