Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) partook in the International Media Marketplace (IMM Australia) 2023 to advertise the Sunny Side of Life in the Australian market. The event which was held last month in Sydney, Australia provided a great platform for the team to meet with leading journalists and media publications from the Oceanic market. MMPRC spotlighted various upcoming events during their time including the Visit Maldives Storytellers’ Conference 2023.
MMPRC also attended the exclusive TravMedia summit held on the first day of the event where panel discussions on interesting topics such as broadcast media, inclusive tourism and the role of DMOs in 2023 and public relations were covered. This was followed by networking sessions with more than 150 A-list media in the region, keynote speakers and much more. Some of the high-profile media that participated in the fair include BBC Travel, Conde Nast Traveler, Vogue Magazine, National Geographic and etc.
On the second day of the event, MMPRC carried out 22 pre-scheduled meetings at the dedicated Maldives table. This allowed the corporation to gain valuable insight into the overall Oceanic market and provided opportunities to further strengthen destination presence in the region. By participating in IMM Australia 2023, MMPRC was able to promote the Maldives as a preferred holiday destination for travellers and give updates to Australian media on the latest travel guidelines and happenings in the Maldives.
Additionally, participation also aligned with efforts to market different tourism segments to media professionals, consequently being able to boost future bookings and arrival numbers from both Australia and New Zealand. The Australian market welcomed 4,125 tourists from Australia by 20th February 2023.
