MNDF Creates First Prototype of a Ventilator

A MNDF technical team created and demonstrated the first prototype of a fully functional emergency ventilator- A landmark occasion for MNDF in the fight against COVID19. This was revealed by Chief of Defense Force Major General, Abdullah Shamaal on 4th May.

The ventilator was created by MNDF technical team, signal and demonstrated for the officials of MNDF with Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi in attendance. The Minister ensures that the ventilator works and applauds the effort of MNDF in their determination to help the community in this crisis.

On 3rd May, MNDF, working together with MTCC and other agencies, completed a quarantine facility in Gulheefalhu with a bed capacity of 665. This will enhance the capacity to quarantine high risk people and control the community spread of COVID-19.

Further, MNDF Troops were present to bury the first COVID19 related death in the country. “Despite the tragic news & though the number of MNDF frontline workers testing positive keeps increasing, the Maldivian people can rest assured that we will not falter & that we will fight COVID-19 head on,” said Chief of Defense Force Abdullah Shamaal.
