Only OBLU Invites Local School Children For An Educational Marine Tour

On 23rd February 2023, OBLU Xperience Ailafushi played host to 14 students from Jamaluddin school in what turned out to be memorable under ocean marine tour. The students were welcomed and greeted by the resort management warmly before escorting them to the exquisite Only BLU Under Ocean Restaurant. Here, the visiting team were offered beverages and a cold face towel before the in-house marine biologist stepped in to lead the tour.

Marine Biologist, Giorgia Maggioni started the tour with an informative presentation that explored the various types of fish and corals found in the Maldives marine environment. Following the presentation, she then intrigued the students by spotting different kinds of fish through the glass windows of the iconic underwater restaurant. The students were offered a specially designed Educational Marine Booklet during their stay, on which they marked the fishes they saw.

After enjoying the refreshing tour, the students were provided with snacks and drinks at KIDSX Camp before they departed from the resort. The Educational Marine Tour brought by the resort targets school children between the ages of 5 and 12 years and teaches them about marine life. Together, they identify different fishes and corals while connecting and broadening their understanding of the Maldives’ delicate ecosystems.

Through initiatives such as these, the resort hopes to educate future generations who may be interested in a career in the hospitality field. Therefore, the program continued each month with a new group of students from a different school in the Greater Male’ region invited to join.
