The Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation(MMPRC) is partaking in the MAKTA Nordic Travel Fair 2023 in an effort to bring the Sunny Side of Life to the Nordic travel trade and consumers. After a two-year hiatus, MMPRC rejoins the fair alongside 13 industry partners from the Maldives. The event is being held at Messukeskus Helsinki Expo & Convention Centre in Helsinki, Finland from the 19th – 22nd of this month.
As the largest travel fair in Northern Europe, MAKTA is expected to bring together more than 1000 travel and tourism organizers and destinations from over 80 different countries. With a forecast of 68,000 visitors this year, MMPRC’s participation in this fair will augment the Maldives’ brand presence in the Nordic market and facilitate widespread networking opportunities for industry partners. Through this, the Maldivian travel trade will be able to obtain valuable insights into industry trends and patterns of the region.
An eye-catching Maldives stand is set up at the MAKTA 2023, aiming to capture the allure and beauty of the serene islands. With inviting and comfortable seating for B2B meetings between industry partners and fair participants, the stand also hosts a traditional space for visitors to enjoy. Here, guests can make use of special Maldives-themed social media filters to post on their social media accounts and will be gifted a calligraphy bookmark. Moreover, they can also discover the cuisine of the island nation by tasting the various delicacies featured at the stand.
The affluent Nordic market is a rising popular and promising market for the Maldives tourism industry. In 2022, 30,393 travellers from the region visited the country and MMPRC executed several marketing strategies for the market last year. Many more activities are in the pipeline for this year as well, including campaigns with airlines, tour operators and other travel industry vendors to further elevate and strengthen destination presence in this emerging market.
