The timeless island sanctuary, Vakkaru Maldives is taking wellness to new heights with the appointment of new resident yoga and fitness instructor, Anju Rathi. Anju Rathi is here to elevate guest experiences through perfectly curated wellness and fitness programmes, set against the scenic background of Baa Atoll. At Vakkaru, guests can feel the utmost relaxation with an experienced yoga practitioner paving the way on their wellness journey.

Anju Rathi is a professional in the arts of Naturopathy and Yoga Science and brings eight years of experience and excellence in the field to the resort. She is an expert in various yoga practices and techniques ranging from Ashtanga and Yin to Restorative and Therapeutic Yoga. Being a gifted teacher, Anju can seamlessly carryout programmatic delivery for all guests, whether they are experienced practitioners in yoga or rookies just starting out on the lifestyle.

Speaking on her new role Anju commented “The ancient practices of yoga help to restore mind and body. My job is to use yoga and its philosophy to develop body-mind-spirit awareness, physical flexibility and strength. Additionally, I adopt a holistic approach to fitness training and strongly focus on execution to improve overall health and well-being in a calming and encouraging environment”.

The former athlete has strong ties with yoga and firmly believes it to be a healthy lifestyle. With her knowledge and innovative touch, Vakkaru Maldives has created multiple transformational mind and body yoga programmes for guests with the inclusion of therapeutic Yoga and Prenatal Yoga.

During a session of Therapeutic Yoga, Anju utilizes a holistic approach to alleviate pain, arthritis and other health-related ailments via dedicated yoga postures and techniques. Moreover, in the prenatal yoga session, Anju guides pregnant women to relax their body while engaging in safe yoga techniques and poses. With a multi-faceted approach to exercise, prenatal yoga helps mental centring and stretching, brining great advantages to both mother and child.

In her role as fitness instructor, Anju creates unique fitness and physical therapy treatments for guests grounded on their fitness goals and condition. With an extensive list of trainings like cardio, HIIT, Weight lifting and etc., she takes guests on an interactive journey.
