Vakkaru Maldives is honored to have a team of remarkable women contributing so meaningfully to its everyday operations in the resort. Every part of the resort is dependent of their talent and hence, the resort in return commits to providing professional, personal and career development opportunities for all.
On International Women’s Day celebrated yesterday, the resort hosted an array of specially curated programs as a token of appreciation for the team’s hard work, dedication and passion while empowering team members to reach their full potential in everything they do. Inspired by the unique hospitality concept Vakkare that provides genuine inspiration and guidance - “empowered women empower women” - which places the concept of care at the core of all Vakkaru does, the resort has provided guests and team members with an array of wellness-minded programmes intended to serve as a tribute to all the achievements and contributions made by the incredible women on the island.
Female team members and guests on the resort gathered together at the crack of dawn to stretch to a ‘Rise and Shine’ sunrise yoga session conducted by Vakkaru’s visiting practitioner and spiritual guru, Dawn Harlow. This inspiring Kundalini yoga session allowed women to harness their power and energy through breath, movement and mantras.
They followed a little extra indulgence with a special ‘Starting our Queens Off Right’ themed breakfast, wherein the management served a special set menu. Wellness activities continued through with a Wellness Workshop and Herbal Tea Degustation with Vakkaru’s resident Ayurvedic doctor, Dr Kalani Perera, who invited female guests to discover more about women’s body, alongside providing some health tips to maintain overall wellbeing.
To conclude the special day, the resort’s resident yogi Anna Tsoy hosted Ladies’ Sundown Yoga in our overwater pavilion overlooking the turquoise lagoon and stunning sunset. In this session, guests practised the art of breathwork and moon salutations to embrace the feminine energy of the moon and pay respect to the divine power and potential every woman carries within herself.
The team village was beautifully decorated with floral displays and fun social events for the female colleagues with efforts to brighten their day up further. General Manager, Ian McCormack said, ‘We are proud to have 53 women working in various departments of the resort, and we strive to provide equal involvement of women in all possible areas, along with opportunities to develop their career and recognize their achievements, while also creating a healthy work-life balance.’
