Waldorf Astoria Maldives Donates Protective Masks

Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi has donated handmade protective masks to frontline healthcare workers, supporting the Indian Ocean paradise amidst the pandemic. The team at the resort remains busy producing handmade masks to protect frontline workers of local medical clinics at neighbouring islands.

Paul Hutton Vice President, Operations, South East Asia at Hilton: They’ve produced 2,500 to date and have ensured sufficient supply for 10,000 more to do their part in the fight against COVID-19. Not forgetting the environment, the team has also started a cleaning effort to maintain the reefs around the resort three times a week.

The Assistant Director of Finance at Waldorf Astoria Maldives said that ‘the team here at Ithaafushi are really amazing humans, regardless of the area of their expertise, everyone is ready to try different things on daily basis in this lock down period. Great to have such a wonderful team with full of momentum, as they do it from their heart and everyone treat this beautiful island like their own home.’

While some employees are engaged in handmade mask making, some are involved in reef cleaning, some in doing fishing for the entire team, some do room maintenance support and gardening and lots more.
