The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, nestled in the pristine Baa Atoll, marked its dedication to environmental sustainability by participating in Earth Hour, a worldwide initiative led by the Worldwide Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) to address climate change.
On March 23rd, from 8:30 to 9:30 PM, the resort dimmed non-essential lighting in public areas, symbolizing its commitment to sustainability. Guests were encouraged to join by switching off lights in their rooms. Amidst the dimmed lights, guests enjoyed a captivating acoustic performance at Sunset Beach, accompanied by specially crafted drinks and candlelight ambiance.
Additionally, the resort organized a tree-planting event from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, where guests and associates planted trees in designated areas around the resort. This initiative not only contributed to carbon offsetting but also enriched the natural beauty of the Baa Atoll.
Beyond Earth Hour, The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort continues its sustainability efforts through a dedicated Sustainability Committee, driving initiatives such as water conservation, organic waste repurposing, and renewable energy utilization. These efforts ensure sustainability remains a core aspect of the resort's operations and values.
