Youth Ministry Announces Free Courses for Unemployed

Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment announces the opportunity for 50 youth individuals, who have been unemployed due to the pandemic, to join online courses for free.

The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) had offered 50 licenses to the Ministry to join these courses which were announced by Coursera Workforce Recovery Initiative, as an immediate solution to the challenges of unemployment and job losses faced as a result of COVID19. The duration of the course is from 30th September to the end of December and the Ministry will assist the 50 applicants in getting internet accessibility.

To apply for this, applicants between the age of 18 and 35 are to send an email to info@youth.gov.mv before 14th June, with their CV, National ID Card copy and a passport size photo. The first 50 applicants, equally chosen between male and female, with completed documents will be announced on 15th June.

As a part of this program, 3,800 courses and 400 Specializations are available for free and Course Certificates are offered for each course completed. However, for an additional fee, dedicated program support, enhanced analytics, custom learning pathways, and private authoring will be available. Enrollment is open through September 30, 2020 for organizations to enroll unemployed workers in courses.
