Visit Maldives in association with CNN Travel holds a joint campaign featuring Zoona Naseem AKA Moodhu Bulhaa – an aspiring Dive Instructure / Fanatic where she highlights on the importance of protecting the vulnerable corals in the reefs of Maldives.
Zoona is teaching the local community to love the oceans that surrounds our tiny islands as the oceans are a big part of our lives. The inspiring enthusiast owns a dive center 10-minutes outside the capital city of Male’ which is aimed for women and children.
The importance of teaching young generations to see and love the ocean coming from a deeper understanding of making them realize to not litter plastic into the ocean which will lead to the destruction of the fragile reefs is one of the aims of Zoona.
Zoona is the second Maldivian to be certified as a course director by PADI as well as the first woman in the country to achieve such a high status, making her an inspiration to young girls.
The ocean lover believes that the ocean should be a kid’s playground as Maldives is 99% ocean with 1% of land. Zoona has also petitioned the government to build a Marine Academy that will offer the opportunity for all ages to further enhance diving skills and learn about the underwater world that awaits to be explored.
Zoona Naseem is an inspiration to us all and a lady that deserves so much respect for the initiatives she has taken in her diving journey. She is an encouragement to young and old females, continuing to prove to the country and the world that women can do anything that they put their minds to, breaking the old barriers for a brighter future for women.
